What is health promotion?

Health promotion focuses on health prevention. It is about keeping people healthy and preventing long-term illnesses before they start. We look at the common risk factors and social conditions that lead to chronic diseases. By using proven strategies, health promotion works with local organisations to give people more chances to get involved, build skills, and take action to improve their health and wellbeing.

How we can help you

Health Promotion Officers work to improve community wellbeing by designing and delivering strategies that increase health knowledge and prevent long-term health problems before they start by looking at the things that affect our health

What we can help with

Our team works with the local communities of Brimbank, Hobsons Bay and Wyndham to make it easier for people to live healthier lives.

We help people stay healthy by supporting healthy food environments, having safe places to be active, reducing vaping and smoking harm, and feeling included in the community.

We team up with other local organisations to create programs and activities that support healthy choices and help people feel more connected and in control of their health. Together, we can make a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of our local communities.

Our team works with you to deliver tailored health and wellbeing initiatives in your community setting. We focus on four main areas:

Using this service

We work closely with community members, community centres, neighbourhood houses, schools, early childhood centres, long day cares, sports clubs, local businesses and other local groups in the areas of Brimbank, Hobsons Bay and Wyndham.

If you are a local community organisation, club, education setting or business, we’d love to work with you to support health and wellbeing in your area.
