Health Promotion

Team up with IPC Health to help improve the health and wellbeing of your community!

What is health promotion?
Health promotion focuses on health prevention. It is about keeping people healthy and preventing long-term illnesses before they start. We look at the common risk factors and social conditions that lead to chronic diseases. By using proven strategies, health promotion works with local organisations to give people more chances to get involved, build skills, and take action to improve their health and wellbeing.
How we can help you
Our Health Promotion Officers are trained health professionals with qualifications in Health Promotion, Public Health or related Health Sciences. Our Community Development Officers have exceptional experience working in partnership with community groups to increase participation in community life.
What we can help with
Our Health Promotion team works with the local communities of Brimbank, Hobsons Bay and Wyndham to make it easier for people to live healthier lives.
We focus on preventing long-term health problems before they start by looking at the things that affect our health - like access to healthy food, safe places to be active, reducing vaping and smoking harm and social inclusion.
We team up with other local organisations to create programs and activities that support healthy choices and help people feel more connected and in control of their health. Together, we can make a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of our local communities.
Our team works with you to deliver tailored health and wellbeing initiatives in your community setting. We focus on four main areas:

Healthy eating
Promoting nutritious food choices and healthy eating habits. We provide the oral health program ‘Smiles 4 Miles’ to early childhood centres and long day care centres.

Active living
Encouraging physical activity and active lifestyles.

Tobacco and vaping
Reducing tobacco and vaping use through education and support.

Social inclusion
Increasing inclusive, safe spaces for people to belong, connect, participate and access.
