How we can help you

What we can help with

Family violence (also called domestic violence) can happen to anyone and to any kind of family. Sometimes it can be hard to spot family violence behaviours because they’re hidden or subtle. Family violence is any threatening, controlling or violent behaviour that occurs in intimate, domestic or family relationships.

Under Victorian law, family violence can include:

  • Physical or sexual assault and/or other sexually abusive behaviour
  • Stalking
  • Repeated derogatory taunts
  • Intentionally damaging or destroying property
  • Threats to or intentionally causing injury or death to an animal
  • Coercive control affecting money and finances as well as relations with family, friends and culture

Family violence is a fundamental violation of human rights and is unacceptable in any form.

Our family violence case workers support people in Brimbank and Melton who use violence to admit, understand and accept their actions and behaviours. The team can also help connect with services including:

  • Counselling for you and your family
  • Health and mental health
  • Alcohol and other drugs
  • Housing and homelessness
  • Men’s behavioural change programs
  • Parenting programs
  • Employment, training and education services
